Hello everybody,
I, as an ordinary user of Java/Jakarta EE platform since 2001 see that despite not being a standard, Spring is at least twice as popular as Java/Jakarta EE.
Diversity is good and it's great we have so many alternatives.
I think we should consider why developers and enterprises invest in Spring instead of Jakarta EE and develop a strategy how to become more popular,
because from the technical standpoint I don't see any significant disadvantages.
We've seen several times how Java EE incorporated other technologies, because they were superior and widely adopted.
I think right now it's time to make that decision. We need to look around and incorporate what is best, because that is the standard that people use and love.
I love using Jakarta EE with JAX-RS, EJB, JPA, Security API but I also like how we can extend the platform with Health, Metrics, Fault Taulerance, OpenAPI, RestClient.
I also would like to have the option to develop the same way I do in Quarkus, when I see changes instantly, instead of waiting when IDE or WAD from Adam Bien redeploys my war file.
I think It's time to unite separate efforts and deliver the standard that majority will use and love.
Kind regards,
