Re: [che-dev] Install Eclipse Che

Hello Patrick,

Note, Eclipse Che editor (like Che-Theia) is not supposed to be launched standalone. But as part of Eclipse Che only.
Che-Theia is the default Che editor, so no additional steps are required to enable it in a Che Workspace.

Hi Patrick,

Thanks for reaching out.

For the architecture of Che version 7.42 and above we have this documentation article https://www.eclipse.org/che/docs/che-7/administration-guide/architecture-overview-with-devworkspace/. Let us know what you think.

Hello Patrick,
Eclipse Che works only in Kubernetes, so to install it, you need Kubernetes to be installed locally:
Have you been through these guidelines?:

Hi,

I'm technical Leader of papyrus,  and we study the usage of Eclipse Che. We have tried to install Eclipse Che but we have some problems.

You can see below questions of my colleagues.

"We are trying to install Che on a local computer for testing.

The documentation does not allow to understand well what Che is exactly made of. Moreover, a guideline seems to be missing on how to fully (in an end-to-end manner) set it up.

A graph with the different Che-related modules (server, theia, operator, ...) would be useful to understand the relationships among them and their contribution to Che.

We have tried to build the Che-server repo and the Che-theia repo.

Once the build of the Che-server repo (mvn clean install) is successful (on a PC with Ubuntu Linux LTS 20.04), what has to be done to launch it?

Once the build of the Che-theia repo (build.sh) is successful (on a PC with Ubuntu Linux LTS 20.04), what has to be done to launch it/interface it with the other modules?

For Che-theia, when we launch the compiled docker image (eclipse/che-theia with the next TAG) and if we try to connect a Firefox browser on http://localhost:3100, we have the enclosed errors log. What could be the cause of these errors?

Patrick
