for this test I would use GDB 7.10, to avoid one additional unknown variable. in other words, I recommend the official arm-none-eabi from https://launchpad.net/gcc-arm-embedded (5.4-2016-q3).

as for Neon.1, the console might be also missing, but I don't remember for sure.

for reference please use Mars.2, where the console is certainly visible.
