Re: [cdt-dev] [debugging] - add new flag

This flag was added in GCC 4.8. Vladimir, could you share this report
with us ?

It might be recommended, but out QA team found it's not as great as
it's supposed; we're sticking with -O0 as default
for our product. I don't have the exact report in front of me right now.

Sorry guys, my suggestion is to include -Og as default for
optimization, using -Og for debug and -O3 for release. Marc, I can't
see any
problem here as it is the recommended flag.

Hi,
I wonder how much value this adds at the risk of causing unexpected
problems based on the compiler
used by each user.

Subject: [cdt-dev] [debugging] - add new flag
Hi folks,
What about include -Og as a default option for debugging ?
Its optimize debugging experience. -Og enables optimizations
that do not
interfere with debugging. It should be the optimization level of
choice for the
standard edit-compile-debug cycle, offering a reasonable level of
optimization while maintaining fast compilation and a good debugging
experience.
