[cdt-dev] running the indexer on a 64-bit JVM

We've had some questions about running the indexer and parser under a 64-bit JVM.

To my knowledge, running Eclipse itself on a 64-bit JVM leads to unpredictable results. I suspect that doing so with the indexer even in standalone mode would not work well either because of the low level way it interacts with the binary PDOM database. Are my assumptions correct?
