Re: [cdt-dev] proposal: remove several CDI debuggers
|
If I implement my proposal, there will be no Cygwin or MinGW debuggers,
though Cygwin and MinGW will appear as command factory options. We'll
need to continue making those available on all platforms since they're
needed in gdbserver use cases (remote debugging).

I'll vote for that. And some
platform specific logic to not include debuggers that are NOT available
on my platform. Like MinGW/MSYS debuggers on OS X. Or the Visual Studio
Error Parsers on OS X.

- that two of the debuggers available for CDI are redundant and
obsolete (gdb Debugger and CygWin gdb Debugger). The list is
quite long and confusing, so removing two of the entries would help a
lot. Anyone have an objection to their removal? If we relocated Doug's
debugger-finding logic to the gdb/mi debugger, we could even get rid
of a third and actually give the CDI user a sensible, short list of
debugger choices. Sure, we are focusing on DSF-GDB but there's no reason
we can't take a little time and try to make sure those using or adopting
CDI aren't hopelessly confused.
