Ok, but I’m talking about the
general user (not cdt developers) who just wants to download CDT and use
it. They won’t be looking in plugin manifests for this basic
information.

I think that's actually
recorded in the plugin manifests. Informally, we'll probably stay on Java 5 for
a while. Mind you there are some nice new features in Java 6 in java.io.File
that make it more useful on Linux like setting execute permissions. But we
haven't talked about that yet.

I am putting together the CDT 6.0 Release Review slides. I have the first draft
