RE: [cdt-dev] CDT 5.0.0 available
|
yeah, I removed the what's new in 4.0 from the final build.
Unfortunatley I didn't get a chance to update it with the content in the wiki.
:(
Dou.

I'd like to ask if "What's new" is available for CDT 5.0? I downloaded
and installed eclipse RC4 and CDT 5.0.0 Final one, and I can learn all about
"What's new" for 4.0. What about 5.0?
Thanks,
Andrew

Thanks, Vivian.
It's
always an emotional time (at least for me :) when a release wraps up and
it was a great feeling when Vivian and I realized that we were done. And
I'd like to thank you all for making this release
happen.
It's
been a quiet release, and one that had me worried. But using CDT 5 over
the last few days to work on some native code for my installer work
and my new attempt at a Windows debugger integration, we've clearly made
some great strides with this release. The indexer based features are
finding way more things than it used to, macros in particular, and the
Fast indexer remains fast - I barely see it running. The editor looks
sharp. The internal builder still works great. And debug continues to
work good as well. And I haven't even tried the new refactoring
features and the doxygen support, which are great additions to our
feature set.
So
while we still have a couple of architectural issues to address to
ensure the success of the CDT long term, I'm very glad we have the
contributors we have today and am very pleased with what we are about to
send out to the world. In fact, I recommend CDT 5.0.0 for commercial
deployment (those who have been around a while will realize the
significance of that statement ;).
Thank you and congratulations on the great
work!
Doug.
