Hey gang, this morning’s build, i.e. the one at 1310
GMT is our RC0 build. I have created a new update site for the Callisto based
builds and am waiting for a day before making the announcement to the newsgroup
so that it propagates to the mirrors. People can get started now if they’d
like. The idea is that RC0 is ready for testing. It’s really
an alpha quality build and people shouldn’t be using it for day-to-day
work. We’re mainly looking for broken features, and especially exceptions
that show up in the error log. RC1 due in four weeks will be the beta test
release. One advantage of using the update site to distribute is that
we’ll be able to release builds incrementally. i.e. if we find some
serious issues that are blocking testing, we can make interim releases at any
time. We’ll talk about that as a community as it arises. So stay tuned for the real RC0 announcement tomorrow morning
(or later today if the mirrors fill up fast).
