Re: [cdt-debug-dev] 3.0 draft plan - my ol' hobby horses

We need this as well, I think it is very common that developers would like to use Eclipse/CDT just as a debugger (at least as a first step).

- Projectless debugging. Large existing C++ projects will not normally
be converted to be Eclipse projects.

Our customers have been asking for this too.

You have my vote for this.

- Let the debugger, instead of Eclipse, look up the source location. I
often see Eclipse failing to find source that GDB has no difficulty
locating.

The "Enhance the source search mechanism" item covers it.

I'd like to see more of:

- "Insight replacement" stuff.
- Projectless debugging. Large existing C++ projects will not normally
be converted to be Eclipse projects.
- Projectless CDT development.
- Let the debugger, instead of Eclipse, look up the source location. I
often see Eclipse failing to find source that GDB has no difficulty
locating.
