[cdt-core-dev] please help

I just downloaded the latest version of eclipse for
Windows 2000. It starts and seems to work fine except
that I can't do any java stuff. In project option,
there is no 'java' project and there is no java
perspective available.

any idea what might be happening. Do I need to get any
pluggin or so.
