Some short background:
Many cies have different ways of building and invested a lot in developping there frameworks.
Keeping that in mind coming up with yet another build process is probably not feasible.
The idea is simple, CDT provides an API that other components can extract the relevant
information, for example getting the source paths or the include paths or compiling
in different stages etc ..
So you could have a very complex GNU/build management and if it follows the API
it should plug and play nicely with the other components of CDT.
There a was a proposition way back by IBM on this. Or if you have a clear idea
of what you want, I would like to hear them.
