Wenfeng,
That is great news. Let's get the plan together next week at the PMC and we
can announce after that (ask for volunteers, etc.)

Scott,
It is a good topic to discuss next week. BIRT was designed to be a
platform to consume different OLAP technologies as data source via an
ODA-MD extension. We have not yet gotten the time to do this yet, but
it is on my to-do list. Mondrian would be a good choice for an
exemplary implementation of an ODA-MD driver. And olap4j would be a
natural choice for such a Mondrian ODA driver. Now that we have some
time after 2.2.1 release is out, I will take the first step to submit an
IP review request of Mondrian to the foundation. It will be great if
we can get some help/contribution from the olap4j community for an
olap4j ODA driver.

Guys,
There is a post from Julian Hyde (Mondrian / Pentaho) asking about why
we are building are own JSR-069 DataCube as opposed to using Mondrian.
I have included the entire text below. I think that we need to have an
answer that we can post back to provide the BIRT PMC position.
I realize that this may be more of a DTP question, but can we get this
on the agenda for next week?
