RE: [birt-pmc] Draft of BIRT 2.2.1 Project Plan for your review

Title: Eclipse BIRT PMC Meeting Minutes - Monday, June 25, 2007
Scott,

Thanks for the email. Yes, Orbit as an approach for easily sharing common resources across multiple projects would be the way to go. However, it is best used when a given resource is needed by multiple projects. Since iText is only used by BIRT right now, it's not worth the overhead of using Orbit until there is cross-project demand for iText. This would certainly be something to consider for the future as demand for iText develops.

Thanks again!

Krishna

Krishna,

Just to make sure I have the picture: 2.2.1 is about bugs and Vista, that’s pretty much it.

One thing that has been discussed is moving the iText project over to Orbit.  Orbit is a repository of third party libraries that are approved for use in Eclipse.  Now that iText has cleared the IP review process, it seems like the better home for it would be Orbit.
