Fellow working group participants,
Please join me in welcoming Red Hat as the newest Partner Member of the AsciiDoc Working Group for 2020 (as a long-time Strategic Member of the Eclipse Foundation).
Red Hat (
https://www.eclipse.org/membership/showMember.php?member_id=731) is one of the largest users of AsciiDoc that I know of, spanning many different solutions and departments. From a community project like Fedora (
https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/docs/) to an enterprise product like the OpenShift Container Platform (
https://docs.openshift.com/container-platform/4.5/welcome/index.html), if you're looking at documentation hosted on a Red Hat domain, it's likely written in AsciiDoc. Many of those documentation sets were transitioned to AsciiDoc from another format, so it's safe to say Red Hat is well-versed in its strengths while keenly aware of how it can be improved. Red Hat brings a wealth of experience with Open Source, open standards, and the Eclipse Foundation alike. We're extremely fortunate to have their participation and support in this initiative.
As a Partner Member, Red Hat will be appointed one seat on the Steering Committee, as stipulated in the AsciiDoc Working Group Charter (
https://www.eclipse.org/org/workinggroups/asciidoc-charter.php) [1]. Red Hat is now eligible to participate in all remaining Steering Committee votes in 2020.
The Eclipse Foundation will reach out to Red Hat to name their representative for the Steering Committee seat.
Before I close, I'd like to thank Red Hat for being a key voice in helping us get the Steering Committee formed so the real work could begin.

[1] As of today, the Steering Committee has five Partner Members (OpenDevise, Couchbase, VMWare, CloudBees, and Red Hat), with three Committer Members still to be allotted. Additional Partner Members are always welcome!
