[alf-dev] For your consideration - Milestone 1.0M7 - Preliminary ALF runtime, Turnover 6 - ALF1_0M7-2007-24-01-0006.zip

A preliminary build package (Turnover 6) or ALF Milestone 7 is now available for download here.

Please download and take a look.  It would be very helpful if you could submit any bugs you find or enhancements you think necessary via the eclipse Bugzilla.

You will need to create an eclipse Bugzilla account to do this but all you need is a valid email address so please take the time.  Otherwise feedback via this mailing list is welcomed.

Milestone 7 contains the core ALF runtime and some tools to configure it and exercise it. It is based on axis 1.3 and uses eclipse WTP 1.5.2 as its primary development tool. The runtime depends on JDK 1.4.2 or later, apache tomcat and jdom.  The install notes provide the necessary detail.  There is an eclipse 3.2 plugin that facilitates configuration of the ALF event manager.  Milestone 7 also makes use of a revised Event Schema.  This new schema is not yet reflected in the  ALF wiki.  That will be addressed this week.

Documentation is currently lacking somewhat but we hope to address that soon.

The work on Milestone 8 is in progress will be based on axis2 and will add Security (via the ALF SSO effort).

We will attempt to address serious bugs and bugs that are easy to fix as part of Milestone 7 at least until a download for Milestone 8 becomes available.  In most cases enhancements will be considered for inclusion in Milestone 8 or later.

If you wish to contribute a fix, the source fo the Turnover is available in the ALF CVS and the version labeled ALF1_0M7-2007-24-01-0006.  The procedure for contributing a fix is to attach a zip for the affected source to the relavent bugzilla item.  There are various rules around contributions you should be aware of.  These are described on the eclipse site here http://www.eclipse.org/legal/ and particularly here http://www.eclipse.org/legal/committerguidelines.php.  It is probably best ot discuss an contribution before making it.

Thanks,
