Re: [ai-interest-group] Eclipse OpenCode plugin

Dear Jay,

Thank you for the feedback, and for your work on the OpenCode plugin!

Our next meeting on Wednesday 9 September covers AI use case mapping, so your timing is excellent. Would you give us a short run-through? Even a few minutes would be worth having.

If anyone else has been quietly building open source AI over the summer, please share an update too. I spent part of mine chasing the other kind of eclipse across Spain. I am told this does not count as an ecosystem contribution.

Looking forward to catching up with all of you. See you on 9 September.

Hello AI Interest Group!

I enjoyed our meeting a couple of weeks ago. In the spirit of keeping the discussion going, I thought I would share with you that I have released an OpenCode plugin for Eclipse.

OpenCode (https://opencode.ai) is a CLI- and web-based tool that supports models from anywhere, including open-weight models. I wanted to use OpenCode inside the Eclipse Workbench, like other tools can be used inside Android Studio or Visual Studio Code. I could do this with the terminal, but I wanted it in an editor where I could save settings and move it around.

Here's the link to our info page and update site information. I'll submit it to the marketplace soon.

I would love to hear your thoughts and feedback on it. If there are new features you'd like to see or bugs you encounter, please let me know. I'd especially like to hear from Mac users, since I can't test on that OS.

Have a great day!

Jay
