Re: [adoptium-wg] Adoptium Working Group Elections - Call for Nominations

Hi,

I'd like to self-nominate myself again for the position of committer representative on the Working Group. We are going to be dealing with a number of challenges in the next few months relating to infrastructure and changes in the mix of providers that we use, and I feel I am in a good position to be able to bring concerns and requirements in this area to the working group. I regularly work with the Eclipse Foundation infrastructure team members on issues and am a project lead at Adoptium and (for now) the Temurin Compliance project so I feel I am still well placed to provide continued value to the Adoptium working group.

The Adoptium Working Group Charter identifies the Steering committee as a key governing body to drive various aspects of the working group for which there are elected positions to be filled.

The elected positions represent the Enterprise, Participant and Committer Members - one seat each.  A reminder that Strategic Members each have a representative appointed to this committee and thus Strategic member organisations do not participate in this election.

Through this email, we are formally announcing the Eclipse Foundation will hold these elections on behalf of the working group using the proposed timetable listed below:

Nomination Eligibility:

Enterprise Members are:  Bloomberg L.P. , Canonical Group Limited, Fujitsu Limited, IBM Participant Members are: iJUG Interessenverbund der Java-User Groups e V, Open Elements GmbH

Committer Members are those who are engaged in projects under the purview of the working group.  Committers may be considered members by virtue of either a) being employed by a working group corporate member, or b) an individual committer who has executed the Eclipse Foundation Membership Agreement in order to attain the rights, privileges and obligations of a Committer Member.  If you are interested but unsure if you are a committer member, please reach out to us and/or learn more here.

Time Commitment In terms of time requirements, most committees meet on a bi-weekly basis for a one-hour conference call.

Elections Schedule:

March 3 -14: Call for Nominations

March 19:  Announce Candidates Standing

March 20 - 28:  Ballots Distributed (Voting Period)

April 1:  Announce Election Results

Nominations must be sent to this mailing list indicating the related seat.  When the nomination period is closed, we will inform the working group of the confirmed candidates providing a short bio for each along with their position statement.  At that point, we will distribute ballots via email to those eligible to vote.  The election process will follow the Eclipse “Single Transferable Vote” method, as defined in the Eclipse Bylaws.  The winning candidates will be announced on this mailing list following the close of the election.  Self nominations are more than welcome!

Please let us know if you have any questions.  Nominations are now open! Best Regards,

Zahra
