Multi series bar chart problem [message #262215] Wed, 28 November 2007 07:50 Go to next message

Hi there,

I am a newbie to BIRT and have been trying to build a multi series bar
chart.

I have the following scenario:

Y-axis : amount of sales
X-axis : month and year

I have an optional Y-Series grouping on client segments of which there are
four thus producing a stacked bar chart.

I have managed to produce the chart with a stacked list of bars for each
month where each bar's Y-Series value label displays.

The only problem is that I also need to display the sum of the stacked
bar's
Y-Series values. For example, for the month of November 2007 I have 4 bars
(Client segments) with values of 20, 10, 10, 40 I want to display 80 at
the top of the stacked bar.

Does anyone have an idea of how I can accomplish this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi again,

please does anyone know how I can accomplish this. I'm kind of in a bind
and I haven't found anything in the archives about this.

Thanks again

Hector,

I don't think this is easily feasible in your scenario. Can you file an
enhancement in bugzilla and we will provide a way to do this in the future.

Maybe what you could try is use some script to compute the stack sum and
modify the top label, it's worth a try.

Thanks,

David

How can I build the BIRT viewer source code? [message #263180 is a reply to message #262353] Wed, 12 December 2007 17:04 Go to previous message

Greetings,
I have successfully installed the BIRT viewer and created some reports. Now
I would like to do some customization of the viewer. Therefore I need to
build the source code.

I downloaded birt-report-designer-all-in-one-2.1.3.zip and I tried building
BIRT_2_1_3_Release_20070705 from CVS (I also tried building 2.2.1 with the
2.2.1 all-in-one but had some many problems I switched to 2.1.3 which seemed
more promising.)

I am using Sun Java SDK (and JRE) 1.4.2_16

I have followed the instructions here:
http://www.eclipse.org/birt/phoenix/build/buildInstructions. php

And the build of the overall project works but I cannot build the WebViewer.

When I invoke "ant.." on BuildWebViewer.xml as suggested on the web page I
get the following error (see below).

Question: what is the procedure to build the BIRT viewer? I see post/blogs
from different people on the web that did it so I know it is possible but
how??

I cannot find org.eclipse.birt.data.oda anywhere, where is that coming from?

Cheers,

Serge
