I see IntelliJ IDEA has this feature and it would be extremely helpful to
have in Eclipse. It is especially helpful in pair/xp programming so that
each developer uses their own styl, and on check-in it formats to a company
standard format. Also would be great to auto-format the first time a
read-only file is starting to be edited with a pop-up indicating it's being
done so.

Any chance of seeing this for at least CVS? Maybe provide some sort of
formatting extension point that CVS and other source control systems can tie
in to to trigger the format of a given file?
