I vote for #3, but with the added proviso I discussed in the bug: those
strings should be marked ‘fuzzy’. And see bug 254847.

I think 2 might be a good idea too, independently.

Hendrik/Denis,

Thanks a lot for the information.
Do I assume correctly that Adobe contributed translations only, or has
there been some form of code, e.g. to assist Genie, too?

And more important, how exactly does Genie work?

I just held a very successful Babel presentation at ESE last Wednesday.
With an audience including the Visual Studio Chief Architect Tim Wagner
from Microsoft (he was WTP lead and at BEA once, just like their Babel
co-lead who left, which is why I had a conversation with him about this
and BEA before it ;-)

Among the most interesting questions was, if Babel itself provides any
automatic or semi-automated way of translation. Which at least one
listening attendant asked for. His company does not have native speakers
for some key languages, and like many other smaller companies this by
far can't be the only one.

I also came across a very interesting article in recent Java Spektrum
about i18n, but I'll speak to Kit about it first before proposing such
mechanisms or tools to be considered here.
