Hi,

How can I go about creating EMF-compatible XMI files for data import? In particular, I'm looking into being able to diagram them with Papyrus.

You need the Ecore model to which the XMI conforms.

If you have XMI that conforms to UML2, you should look at the UML2
project. http://www.eclipse.org/modeling/mdt/?project=uml2
