Hi

I'm very interested in using Sirius in our development workflow.

We are currently using Xcore - as it is the easiest way to quickly construct a model baseline.

Also, our developers find it very quick and easy to work with.

However others such as architects and product owners will benefit most from working with Sirius.

Can Sirius do reverse engineering?
Is it possible for Sirius to integrate with Xcore?

Hi Anton,

first of all, thanks for your interest in Sirius.

I'm not sure I understand your question about "reverse engineering", but
basically I see 2 ways of working with Xcore in Sirius:

1/ Define Sirius diagrams on an Xcore-based metamodel. In that case you
will manipulate your EClasses exactly as you would have with a standard
Ecore model

2/ Use the Sirius Ecore Editor (or Ecore Tools 2, based on Sirius) to
define an Xcore model. Last time I tried, I had synchronization issues
with both the Xcore and the Sirius diagram editors opened:
- if you modify your Xcore file through the Xcore editor, then the
diagram editors will be refreshed in real-time (OK)
- However, if you modify the Sirius diagram, the Xcore editor will not
be refreshed (because the Xcore editor does not react to changes).

In both cases, Sirius will have to use an XTextResourceSet to be able to
load Xcore models. This is what does the
"org.eclipse.sirius.runtime.ide.xtext" feature, available on the Sirius
update site. Please make sure you have this installed.

Let us know if you have any further question or issue.

Best regards,
Alex
