This newsgroup seems to have gone quiet for a while now, so is there any
chance of getting a status update on how this Proposal is progressing?

It seems to be composed of the following sub projects

- Database Connectivity
- SQL Development Tools
- Database Administration
- Data Modeling Tools
- Object/Relational Mapping
- XML/Relational Mapping
- Extract-Transform-Load

From reading this newsgroup organizations seem to have put there name
to the Data Modeling Tools and Object/Relational Mapping sub projects,
but have any of the other sub projects got committers ( I assume Sybase
has committed?)?

Whilst all the above would provide me with great benefit, the last one,
Extract-Transform-Load, is the area that would really interest me and my
company. We are to small organisation to being the lead in this project,
but I am happy to revive any requirements/proposal/design documents.

Hope all of the above make sense.

Regards Mike Kimber

We'll be having a face-to-face meeting with potential DTP code contributors
next week (Tues -- Thurs), and we will update the newsgroup regularly during
as events unfold. Until then, it is a little difficult to predict what the
DTP projection structure will be as a result of the consolidation exercise,
but I think it is safe to say that the ideas behind the Database
Connectivity and SQL Development Tools projects will remain. There's been a
lot of activity around ORM with the two proposals from Versant and Oracle,
and we will be working with each of them going forward. ETL hasn't got
community "funding" at this point, though it remains of interest to us and
BIRT. I suspect any tooling in this area will appear as DTP matures. Unless,
of course, support for it appears from the community now. :-) The Data
Modeling efforts have been refocused on GMF, which seems the logical place
to start for now in building a foundation for any eventual offerings in that
area. Finally, the status of the remaining projects is somewhat undetermined
at this point, but we expect the output of the consolidation meeting, and
the discussions that it produces to clear up the status of these proposed
subprojects.

Stay tuned for many developments in the coming weeks!
