Leveraging WST Server Tools for non web servers [message #176750] Wed, 09 August 2006 21:57

After investigating the server tools framework a little bit, I'd like to
leverage the server tools abstractions in my plugin to allow users to
publish and test artifacts of the plugin (i.e. content) to a particular kind
of server. In this case, however, the server is not a web server and the
content is not a web app. All the concepts described in the "wst.server API
Overview" apply in my case except for the mention of HTML, Web, J2EE, EAR
etc.

I really like the server model but I believe I'll have to embark on a
similar effort as JST to define Runtimes, Servers, Behaviors, Modules,
Publishers, Launch Configurations, Server Definitions, etc. particular to my
needs. Should I continue with this approach or is this non web app case
outside the intent of the Server Tools?

Thanx!
