"No structural differences" [message #170345] Tue, 27 July 2004 14:22 Go to next message

I'm using Eclipse 3.0 on windows2000; the CVS repository is on
a Linux machine. When I Synchronize with repository, several
times some files are presented as having outgoing changes.

However, the Java Structure Compare shows no differences. In the
title I read "No structural differences".

In the Synchronize window the affected file is shown, e.g., as

Filter.java 1.1 - 1.1 (ASCII -kkv).

If I "Override and Update", Eclipse asks a stress-generating
"Overwrite local changes?" (there are no real changes, of course),
I answer Yes, then Eclipse looks satisfied.

Of course there is absolutely no change from the local and the repository
versions.

The "ignore whitespace" option is set.

Otherwise CVS is perfectly working (commit, history, anything).

I have tried the Eclipse help, google, this newsgroup
to no avail.

In this ng there is an old post by Josh Rehman (Jul 21, 2003)
lamenting, AFAIU, the same problem, but with no answer.

Anybody having the same problem? Suggestions? TIA
Andrea

Try turning off the ignore whitespace option. It is probably just a
white space change instead of a semantic change. With ignore whitespace
turned off you should be able to see what exactly has changed.

Did you try to "cleanup timestamps" (context menu of Synchronize view)?
It helps if you "changed" (saved) files accidently.
Hope, this helps.

Is it related to https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=64083

?
