It is my pleasure to announce the release of WTP 1.0.2!

This is an important release that many of our
adopters have been asking and waiting for,
and contains a number of important fixes for users.

102 fixes to be exact,
http://download.eclipse.org/webtools/downloads/drops/R-1.0.2 -200604200208/whatisfixed/buglog.html

You in the Eclipse community have helped make it possible, and
we continue to appreciate your support.

In addition to our popular all-in-one downloads for Windows and Linux,
this time we've also provided one for the Mac.
And, of course, we have the separate WTP (JST + WST)
and WST only components available in their separate zips.
See
http://download.eclipse.org/webtools/downloads/drops/R-1.0.2 -200604200208/
for download links.

Unfortunately, the Update Manager site is not ready yet,
but we'll have that fixed up in a few days.
You can see bug 138825, if interested.
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=138825
Note, this same bug will effect "Source Attachment", if
using as a PDE target for extending WTP, but in no way
effects the running code. So, in other words, won't change
your ability to create cool web apps :)

We sincerely hope you enjoy this new release and find it useful.

Hi David,

There seem to be problems with the downloads site at this time, since I a
m receiving the following error when clicking on any of the links:

"Unable to connect to the database server at this time."

Regards,

Laurent

Yes, this is a problem the Eclipse site in general has been having this
week ...
as far as I know, they might still be.

If you continue to have that problem, here's a temporary "work around".
The whole reason its trying to use the data base, to download a zip, is to
look up
a nearby mirror that has the zip file.

So, if you know a good mirror's host name, you can use that directly, and
"copy/paste" the
last part of the URL the download page is trying to use (the last part
after the '?' ).
Or, if you don't have a favorite mirror, you can try download.eclipse.org
directly, for example,
http://download.eclipse.org/webtools/downloads/drops/R-1.0.2 -200604200208/wtp-all-in-one-sdk-R-1.0.2-200604200208-win32. zip

In my experience, eclipse.org has this problem about 20 minues each day
(before they "reset" the problematic software and temporarily fix it). If
if continues to be a problem for you, you might want to open a bug on the
Eclipse Foundation/Community/website to let them know of your experience.

.... the previous problem with update manager has been fixed and the update
site
for WTP can now be used to update to WTP 1.0.2.

If you already have WTP 1.0.1 installed, you can use "find updates for
exiting
features" to update (you might have to do it twice, to get both WST, and
JST features --
see bug 139659.) https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=139659

If 1.0.1 is not already installed, you can follow the steps described at
http://download.eclipse.org/webtools/updates/

<technicalnittygritty>
Also, since the fix for the update site required us to remove underscores
from
the feature version qualifiers we have "refreshed" the downloadable
zip files, so they match exactly what's available on the updates site.
There was
no ~code~ change ... this was just a change in the build procedure and
packaging, so
it is not considered it a new release, and there is no reason to get a new
version,
if you already installed the previous version. We only do this so its less
confusing
in the months to come to just have one set of feature definition version
ids.
Any bugs are against the code plugins, and they still all have exactly the
same
content, and the same version ids. But, this refresh might effect adopters
who
"pull" the content for their own builds or packaging, since the new URL
for the
refreshed zips will change to be
http://download.eclipse.org/webtools/downloads/drops/R-1.0.2 -200604280245/
It will take a day or so for that content to be replicated and available
for download,
</technicalnittygritty>

but the update manager site is ready now.

Thanks again
