I have the latest stable eclipse, wtp etc. but keeping getting the
following error with validation

*** ERROR ***: Mon Mar 13 17:48:40 GMT 2006
java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException: IWAE0027E Could not
retrieve the validation configuration for resource .

*** ERROR ***: Mon Mar 13 18:03:20 GMT 2006
java.lang.StringIndexOutOfBoundsException: String index out of range: -12

While the preferences box just has "Validators can run only on open
resources"

There was a certain point in time after the validation preferences
were reorganized in which existing projects with previous validation
preferences weren't migrating at all to the new preference format.
This problem shouldn't be visible on more recent 1.5 builds. If you
still see these errors on our release candidates, please do open a
bug on the wst.validation component.
