Hi all,

when I create a new Java (J2ME, more concretely) project, the bin folder
that is generated is hidden. Why is that?

I am trying to integrate Eclipse with mpowerplayer to write Java
applications for mobile devices on a Mac. I have followed these directions
down here but I am stuck on step number 5, because I can't see the bin
folder of my project

http://www.urbanhill.net/midp.

I'll appreciate any help.

Thanks.

laura

PS. When will we have a Eclipse J2ME plug-in for macs?

Laura,

The normal behavior of the Package Explorer in the Java perspective is
to hide the bin directory and compiled .class files. If you wish to see
these, you can open up the Navigator view by going to Window->Show
View->Navigator.

The Eclipse Foundation does not have a J2ME plug-in project. If you know
of an external J2ME plug-in that you'd like to use on your mac, you
should contact the authors of that plug-in to request to get it
supported on your platform.

Hope this helps,
- Jeff

Thanks a lot, Jeff, it worked.

To the second point of running J2ME applications on a Mac, I am currently
trying to integrate mpowerplayer with Eclipse, and I have followed the
instructions on this site
http://www.urbanhill.net/midp/

but when I run the application, it doesn't generate the .jar file, so it
doesn't work.

Do you have any idea of why it happens?

Thanks again.

Laura,

I briefly looked at the instructions you pointed to and it looks like
they're using a Ant buildfile to compile and package your classes into a
jar. Are you doing this step, and does it work successfully?

Jeff,
yes, I am following the instructions as they are on that page. I am using
the build.xml file of the mPowerPlayer SDK, though, and it does not work.
There is no buildfile in my Ant directory.

Thanks again for having a look at it.
