Hi all,
Just downloaded EMF Compare 2.1.0M5:

http://www.eclipse.org/emf/compare/downloads/

The bundle version is set to 3.0.0.201302050831...

Is this the target version for the next release?

Hi,

The version of EMF Compare that will be released along with Kepler is 2.1. The versions of all of our features reflect that.

However, some individual plugins have indeed been set to version 3.0.0. This is really an information aimed at developpers only : during the development process of 2.1, we've detected that some of the APIs we had released presented too strong limitations to be left alone. Since the only version in which these APIs have been present was 2.0, a "stepping stone" release we made shortly after Juno last year, we decided that it would be better to change the API to a more usable state right then instead of trying to maintain the too limited ones. The features themselves did not change though.

In short : the "bundle" version has increased to 3.0.0 to show developpers that there's been an API breakage in this bundle. The feature version remained 2.1.0 since the change is transparent to the end-user, all previously included features are still accessible through the same actions.
