Spaces for tabs (in Indigo)? [message #999752] |

(Indigo 64-bit, Ubuntu Lucid.)
I've checked General -> Editors -> Text Editors -> Insert spaces for
tabs and then find the Java editor leaving tabs in the file anyway. I've
verified after saving (and closing) Java files that the tabs do persist.
Even if I take the tabs out by hand, more are left in as I press the tab
key afterward.
Am I missing something?
Much thanks.

Thanks, Ed. I used to use tabs, but recently have decided to discontinue
the practice in Java code at least. This is why it's just never come up
in all the years I've used Eclipse.
So, you're right...
Window -> Preferences -> Java -> Code Style -> Formatter -> Edit ->
Indentation -> Tab policy: Spaces only.
This appears to work fine now.
Thanks also to Nitin for replying. It appears that the wiggle above IS
how to configure the Java editor (which otherwise isn't listed
separately, I guess).
Best regards to all,
Russ
