My company ships a branded version of the workbench. In our next
release, we're plugging into the debug framework.
As part of a debug launch, I'd like to spin up a web container (Tomcat
or Jetty) and then deploy a pre-configured WAR file. The user is not
debugging the web application, but rather the web application is driving
a different application on a different machine, which is what they will
debug. When the debug session ends, I want to destroy the container.
jetty@eclipse is big news these days. Its not yet clear to me the
connection between that and org.eclipse.equinox.http.jetty.
I guess a couple questions:
1] Is running Jetty in the IDE (remember, branded workbench) the same as
running it in standalone Equinox?
2] Does http://www.eclipse.org/jetty/ mean anything for
http://www.eclipse.org/equinox/server/http_in_equinox.php in the 3.5
timeframe?
3] Anyone know of other plugins in the ecosystem that are spinning up
Jetty (or Tomcat) inside the workbench? I'm guessing thats what the Help
system does..
Thanks
Ben
