I am currently evaluating the use of Eclipse RAP as a replacement for an existing Java Swing thick client application. The current Swing application uses between 50M and 80M of heap space when running on each client PC. Approximately 10M of this is sharable code table data that would be reused across all server sessions.

My question is would a eclipse RAP based application offering similar functionality consume similar heap resources when running on the server? (I am working on a proof of concept but this may not be finished in time for our presentation hence my question)

Any ball park figures or estimates would be helpful.

Thanks John

Hi John,
it depends on how many widgets your application has and now many user
sessions you have in parallel. These numbers will impact the rap server
memory consumption.
Best,
Ivan
