Hi all,
DISCLAIMER:
This may be more of a question about the general editor but I first ran into this issue in CDT so I am posting here first. I apologize if this is the wrong forum.
BACKGROUND:
I just upgraded to Eclipse 4.2 from 3.6 and I have noticed that I am no longer able to open the same file in multiple editors and therefore no longer able to view different sections of the same file side-by-side. I.e. I can no longer apply a split-view on a file. In version 3.6 a right-click on the editor's file tab gives me the options RESTORE, MOVE, SIZE, MINIMIZE, MAXIMIZE, CLOSE, CLOSE OTHERS, CLOSE ALL, and NEW EDITOR. The NEW EDITOR option allowed me to open the same file as many times as needed. The current version 4.2 only allows CLOSE, CLOSE OTHERS, and CLOSE ALL.
QUESTIONS:
1) Is there a new way of opening the same file multiple times?
2) Is there another way of applying a split-view on the same file?
GRATITUDE:
Thank you in advance for any information you are willing to share.

You can open a second instance using Window->New Editor. You can then
drag the second instance (grab the editor tab) to one side or the other.
You'll get a frame hint showing multiple frames. Drop to create a
second editor frame.
