For some time now I get an 'Internal error' message when the PDF preview window is opened for the second time.

Like this...

    open BIRT viewer in eclipse
    select PDF output
    select print
    close PDF preview
    close viewer
    open viewer
    select PDF output
    'Internal error occured'

I then have to close & restart eclipse.

Paul

I tried to reproduce this issue and I could not. Can you check the
workspace log in the .metadata directory to see if it shows anything?
