I'm trying to run agent control linux_ia32 on Debian 4.0 and Ubuntu 7.10.
I've the same error on these too distributions :

$ TEMP='/tmp'
$ echo $TEMP
/tmp
$ ls -lad /tmp
drwxrwxrwt 5 root root 4096 2007-11-15 10:25 /tmp
$ ACServer
The TEMP environment variable does not point to a valid directory.
Agent Controller will not start.

If some one know where I'm wrong.

Please try any 4.5 build.
It seems Samson has fixed similar defect in this release.

Hi Pascal,
The problem might be caused by shell you are using.
Try to substitute first line in the ACStart.sh file:
substitute "#!/bin/sh" by "#!/bin/bash"
