Hey Guys,

is there a way to test e4 RCP Applications with Jubula? I've tried to adopt a tutorial with an eclipse 3.x rcp application. But after adding the jubula.rc.rcp bundle to my dependencies, the bundle needs a bunch of dependencies to the old eclipse 3.x stuff. Is there a special bundle vor e4 rcp? Or is my way completely wrong?

greetings,
thomas

Hi,

We're doing some work on e4 applications with the compatibility layer at the moment - the results are generally encouraging, though there is a problem with menus that is linked and described in this thread. We haven't started evaluating applications without the compatibility layer at the moment.

HTH,
Alex

Hi Alexandra,

thank you for your quick response. Until now we doesn't need the compatibility layer, and the goal was indeed to develop a plain e4 application which is easy deployable and testable Smile Are there UI Testing alternatives for such a solution?

greetings from munich

Hi Thomas,

we just started work on the e4 support, but with limited resources. The current plan is to have e4 support implemented by the end of 2012. Depending on the overall demand we might postpone an actual release until Kepler. If your are willing to help or sponsor the work we are not to proud to accept every bit of support we can get Wink

Hi,
I was trying to run jubula with a rcp e4 application, written under eclipse 4.2). My problem is that the rcp plugin seems to be unable to connect to the AUT agent. However, I have no dependency problems as mentioned above. Is my problem related to having e4 not fully supported or should the plugin and the agent be able to communicate?

thx for any help

Robert

I've searched the news, the forum and the plan: Is it still down-to-earth to await to have a real (not compatibility layer) eclipse 4 application tested with jubula 1.2.3 or at least 2.0?

We are working on it. If we don't encounter unexpected problems the Kepler release will be able to test e4 (w/o the compatibility layer). Can't make any promises for JunoSR2.

Hi Thomas,

Yes, Xored Q7 is a testing alternative with full e4 and latest GEF, GMF, Platform support.

Thank you,
Andrey

Hy,

we are trying to test an e4 RCP application with Jubula (Kepler-Release Eclipse V4.3 M4).

Now we have the problem, that our AUT do not start correctly (the progress bar in the Progress View is pending and does not disappear).

Is e4 support with the Kepler-Release fully supported already?

Thanks
Alex

Hi Alex,

Thanks for the message and the interest. The support's not in yet, no, but Raimar is working on it at the moment. The plan is to have it in for the next Jubula standalone release (19th March, just before Eclipse Con), which means it will be in Kepler. I've just opened a bug to document our progress on it (here). As I've mentioned there, we'll be happy to provide artifacts to test / use even before it's in the official build.

HTH,
Alex
