this in your code so that you can change the text of cell in a
table/tree at runtime?

If you are talking about straight text selection, then that is part of
Eclipse's java editor. It has nothing to do with the Visual Editor. The
Visual Editor uses the Eclipse java editor for the text pane of the editor.
