Sunil,

Questions about the agent controller (AC) are probably going to be answered
quickest if you post them on the eclipse.tptp newsgroup. People working on
the AC tend to focus on that newsgroup. I do too, but as I'm still coming up
to speed on "all that is Eclipse", I was browsing this newsgroup to see what
things newcomers (such as me) typically run into. That's when I saw your
message(s).

I *might* be able to help a little, though, as I know a little bit about
what you're running into. But to be sure I'm not leading you astray, I'd
need to know what version of the AC you're running. If you're running
Eclipse 3.0 with the 3.3 version of the RAC (the "old AC"), I'm not as
knowledgeable about that version. I do know that it's more susceptible to
firewall issues than the 4.0 version of the "new AC". (But be careful, TPTP
4.0 has both the new provisional AC and an updated version of the "old AC".
The "new AC" is under the "technology preview" download.)

If you're using the new AC, it only requires opening up port 10002 in order
to communicate with the AC. The old AC, however, is first communicated with
via that port, but then it communicates *back* to the client at an ephemeral
port address, making it more difficult (or impossible?) to know which
port(s) to open up.

Bottm line, yes, the firewall might be causing your problem (or at least
part of your problem). Of course the easiest way to find that out would be
to turn the firewall off long enough to try it.

I hope that helps some... if not, I'd really encourage you to repost this
over on eclipse.tptp.
