Hi

An example from UML may make it clear.

Element::ownedElement is useful when you want to navigate composition trees.

Package::ownedType is useful when you want to knwo about package components

ownedType is a subset of ownedElement. You get multiple views at
non-trivial implementation cost. Basic UML discards the subsets.
