Failed connect to Derby database [message #93734] Tue, 22 November 2005 04:27 Go to next message

Dear BIRT experts,

I can't connect to my Derby database using
org.apache.derby.jdbc.EmbeddedDriver (neither from BIRT's, neither from
IBM's derby.jar). When I press [Test Connection] I always get the
following: "Failed to start database ... See next exception for details",
[Ok] button and no "next exceptions".

At the same time EasySQL Eclipse plugin works Ok with the same database.

Platform is Windows XP SP2. I use latest versions of all mentioned above
programs.

Thanks in advance!

Pavel

Dear BIRT experts,

Thank you for keeping silence and giving me a chance for self-finding the
solution :-)

It is following: latest BIRT and DERBY (Cloudscape) version are
incompatible. Both includes different versions of derby.jar.

Seems that for using database, created by latest derby.jar (Cloudscape) it
is necessary to manually replace BIRT's derby.jar to latest version.
