I can't dismiss the content proposal pop-up [message #774818]

I am using ContentProposalAdapter on a Text field and when I accept a proposal by double-clicking it, the content proposal pop-up disappears as I would expect it to do.
But when I press the Return key to accept the proposal, the content proposal pop-up keeps coming back no matter what until I click in the Text field or I move the window.
I tried setting the focus programmatically but that didn't help.
I also tried to dismiss the pop-up programmatically after the proposal was accepted but the pop-up keeps coming back each time.
Could someone please help me?
