AGR like Web Application Testing [message #87704] Thu, 16 November 2006 18:04 Go to next message

Hi,
I am new to TPTP. I want to use TPTP to test a web interface. The HTTP
recorder with TPTP, as far as, I understand can be used only for
performance testing.

Essentially I want to be able to record a test case, use data pools to
provide variable test data and be able to use verification hooks. Is there
some way in which I can test web UI using TPTP.

If TPTP ddoes not have such a facility are there any plans of building a
web / java UI testing framework similar to AGR.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and regards,
- Ashish

UI interaction with web-based applications is not possible with the HTTP
recorder. The recorder programmatically makes requests based on a recorded
session. I'm not aware of any plans to extend the HTTP recorder/AGR to
allow functional testing of web-based applications. There are commercial
offerings out there that allow you to do what you're looking for (e.g. IBM
Rational Functional Tester).

Thanks.
