Eclipse recompiles the whole project when I click "Save" [message #80373]

Eclipse didn't compile the whole project a few weeks ago. Then suddenly it
compiles the whole project. Why?

Is Eclipse capable of doing a more intelligent compiling by not compiling
everything?

I have Eclipse 2.0.2.

My colleages also have these problems. Sometimes we don't have the problem
even if we save the same class.

It is very strange.

Any ideas?

Eclipse will recompile only the changed classes (and the ones that are
affected). It's called incremental build.

If nothing was compiled, everything will be compiled of course, but only
the first time. After that, incremental build is performed.

Do a rebuild all one time
And then check what it does after that.

Open a bug report against JDT/Core and if possible, submit your test
case.

Check you task view carefully to make sure that you don't have any build
path problems.

consider upgrading to Eclipse 2.1 - and check whether the problem persists.
