I found the table element has a checkbox called "can shrink", what is its usage?

my birt designer version is 2.2.1

This setting if checked will shrink a container to its contents. This
will only work if you do not specify a height or width values for the
container. Run the attached report then select the canshrink checkbox
for the grid and run it again. BTW the report was done in BIRT 2.6.1.

Does it works also in PDF output? When I view the attached report as HTML, it works perfectly. But if I run it as PDF shrink it's ignored.
