I was wondering if it is possible to have vxml or voice project? I have
installed vtp-M20050817 and I can create vxml-, ccxml-, srgsxml-files,
but it seems I cannot create a voiceproject.

The way I do it now is I create a "Simple"-project and create vxml-files
in this. But I cannot mark the project or the files in the project as
voice files. Is this because it isn't possible, or because I have
installed the plugin incorrectly?

I hope somebody may be able to help me.

At this time the project has not contributed any functionality beyond
editors so we've stayed away from defining new project types before we have
a use for them. For now using the Simple or Web project types should be
fine.

What were you looking to occur by marking them as voice files?

Defining a voice application project structure would be a very good
thing to do for the VTP, and I hope soon.

Since voice applications are so often served up by web servers, I think
the web application type would be a good place to start.

Do you have any ideas for what we would do with a new project type? I agree
that it would provide some clarity but I don't want to create a voice
project and then do nothing with it.

In IBM's tools, we use a voice project to tell us that this project has
voice resources like grammars that need precompiling, so I suppose if we can
get some generic speech engine interfaces defined we could do something
similar. Are there any other scenarios where providing a voice project
versus a regular web or simple project could add some value?

A voice app contains a good deal of content as well as code. There are
grammar definitions and audio files that want to be bundled together
with the vxml and ECMAscript. As you mention, those different kinds of
files would invoke preprocessing of their own kind, perhaps.

I see the project structure being a way to organize all that
consistently for managing the development and for deployment to whatever
server environment eventually serves up the material.

I suspect that structures already developed for web applications will be
completely suitable to voice apps as well, but someone should ask the
question if there are any special needs.
