Hi *,
I was wondering is there an interest in setting up an update site for
the PDT 1.1 integration builds, or it is just me?

Hi,

I'd vote for this too, that's actually the reason why I stay with 1.0.x,
because keeping up to date manually isn't the best way to keep a
functionnal installation.

You might want to add yourself to the cc: list for this bug:

Hi Nick,

Do you know if there is an archived site for 1.1 builds?

Glen.

Archived site? No. Update site? Not yet.

Add yourself to bug 233744 to track this request.

I have voted for that bug. So there are no plans for archived sites?

You mean an update site in a zip? Is that more useful than an update
site online? (p2 gives you multithreaded downloading so you can pull
from multiple mirrors at the same time. It's faster to do an install
this way than by downloading a zip. However, if you plan to roll out the
same install many times, you might prefer a one-time download you can
distribute. If that's the case, add such a request to the bug; my update
site builder system already creates these archived update sites, but
doesn't (yet) publish them as there's been no request for them... until
now. :)

That said, my system is not yet hooked up for PDT builds, so bear with
us while I help the PDT guys port their build system over.

Nick,

If I use update sites, I don't have a file that I can back up for future
use.

My comment in the following bug explains things a little more clearly
(hopefully):

https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=107510#c4

Regards,

Glen.

using PDT 1.1 with Eclipse web site projects [message #74245 is a reply to message #74104] Mon, 30 June 2008 14:49 Go to previous messageGo to next message

I wonder if anyone been able to use PDT 1.1 with Eclipse 3.4 to work
with Eclipse web site projects? Those are from
@dev.eclipse.org:/cvsroot/org.eclipse

I've been able to see syntax highlighting for those, but php
completion is not working for functions declared in project
templates/includes, such as Phoenix. So, it is bit awkward to install
~30Mb worth of plugins just for syntax highlighting.

It would be nice to componentize PDT features, so it would be possible
to install just the editor without debugging support and reduce the IDE
footprint. Though it seem like major dependencies are in DLTK core which
is also not broken down to smaller features.

regards,
Eugene

Hi there,
i tried on few installs and the 'Go to definition' functionality was not
working at all, but this list is may not be a place for a discussion
like this.

Thanks Stoyan, I've heard about that before. I don't think it's really
what I'm looking for though.

In Eclipse 3.4, this is an Equinox.p2 problem, not Platform.Update, so
I've reassigned the bug and commented myself. I agree, this isn't a
great situation.
