Stupid newbie question -- Java perspective [message #72259] Thu, 03 July 2003 10:46 Go to next message

Ok, I just downloaded and installed Eclipse 2.1, and I'm trying to set it
up to do my Java development. Among the first things the tutorial says to
do is to create a new Java project, then to go to the Java perspective.
Well, it looks like the Java perspective is not loaded or installed,
because I can't find it anywhere, and when I create a new project, Java
Project is not one of the available options. I have Sun's 1.4.0 JVM
installed and my JAVA_HOME points to it. What did I install or configure
incorrectly?

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this query, but I couldn't a more
suitable forum...

Many thanks,
Jeremy Warach

Maybe you downloaded the "Platform runtime" instead of the complete
"Eclipse SDK" ?

That looks like the problem then -- I definitely downloaded the platform
runtime and not the complete SDK, which I'm downloading now. That's what
I get for trying to save a few minutes in download time...

Many thanks, and sorry for the stupid question.
