[QVTd] What is the status of the project? [message #697122] |

I am interested in using QVTr for m2m transformations, but I am not sure if the QVTr tool is ready to be used, or what its limitations are at this time.
I downloaded the latest version (0.80RC1) released on July 10, 2010.
I followed the instructions on the wiki, but I have no idea how to start and execute the transformation.
How do I perform the actual transformation?
Also it looks like I am having trouble with model registrations. I get errors in some of the qvtr files and it looks like it cannot find the models.
I have tried:
Eclipse-Modelling-Incubator-Helios-SR2-MacOSX-64
Eclipse-Modelling-Incubator-Indigo-MacOSX-64
I also tried Eclipse-Modelling-Incubator-Helios-MacOSX-64, but the editors didn't look like they registered even though I copied the same files to the plugins and features folder as I did in the other two distros.
Do I have to use a Helios release?
Thank you,
-Mark

Hi Mark
There is no execution capability.
In the last couple of years, my time has been devoted to the OCL
project, where the new Xtext-based extensible architecture may
facilitate much better progress this year. My goal is a Xtext-based
editors and QVTc execution for Juno and QVTr in Juno+1. See the QVTd
wiki for architectural vision.
Anyone wanting to contribute significantly is very welcome.
Regards

Thank you Ed,
I have seen the improvements in the OCL project and they look great. The use of the X-Text architecture seems to work everywhere from the editor to the OCL Console. The ability to embed OCL in ecore or import the ecore into an ocl file is pretty sweet.
I look forward to QVT relations appearing for the Juno release.
Until then I think I will focus on using Medini QVT for relations.
Thank you
-Mark
