How to install JDT on platform manually [message #667621] Fri, 29 April 2011 22:19 Go to next message

I have downloaded eclipse platform runtime binary(eclipse-platform-3.7M7-win32.zip) and JDT runtime binary(org.eclipse.jdt-I20110428-0848.zip).

How can I install JDT on eclipse platform locally?

Try Help>Install New Software, and add a local archive site pointing at
the jdt zip.

Thank you, Paul. I tried your advice. It may work, but when my eclipse appears the window which tell you to review the installed plugins, I click next button but it can not go to next page. Eclipse seems want to download artifacts.xml but failed.

I downloaded eclipse-platform-N20110502-2000-win32.zip and org.eclipse.jdt-N20110502-2000.zip. I extracted features and plugins folder of JDT zip into eclipse's dropins folder and extract file in binary folder of JDT zip into eclipse\p2\org.eclipse. equinox.p2.core\cache\binary. Then JDT was successfully installed. Smile

I don't know if you found a solution to this, but if you download a jdt zip then you can extract & copy the "plugins" and "features" directories to the corresponding directories in your installed eclipse platform path (eg. like ~/.eclipse/org.eclipse.platform_4.4.1_1473617060_linux_gtk_x86_64/ on my linux install).
